Islands By Design Ltd. (IBD) was founded from its predecessor EIA (Bahamas) Ltd., in 1994 by its Principal, Keith Bishop. Mr. Bishop is a professional with over thirty years experience in project management consulting. He has more than fifteen years experience as a local environmental consultant in the Caribbean conducting environmental impact assessments. To date, Keith Bishop has performed environmental impact assessments and has done environmental planning and management on over one hundred and fifty projects ranging from small residential developments to major industrial and commercial projects.

IBD is a small consultancy but through an extensive network of associate consultants both locally and internationally are able to offer a broad range of disciplines which include marine engineering, wetland ecology, coastal processing, plant ecology, air quality, archeology, socioeconomic and environmental permitting and planning. Additionally, IBD is able to offer multidisciplinary engineering design services, project management consulting and execution.

In association with their international associates, IBD have gained extensive experience in marine consulting which also includes coral and other types of hard bottom reef restoration and surveying. Through working with a large number of projects throughout the Bahamas, Islands By Design has developed a large database of terrestrial ecological data.

IBD has a full understanding of the marina industry, having been involved in all aspects from design through construction and operations. Our design process includes gaining a thorough knowledge of our prospective client's requirements, budgets and expected return on investments prior to proceeding with the planning. A complete analysis of site and environmental conditions, permitting requirement together with preliminary cost estimates on conceptual designs are completed for our Client's review prior to implementing our marina design processes.

Now approaching its 12th Anniversary, IBD has achieved a track record that has resulted in a reputation of reliable technical performance, unbiased analysis of projects and scientific integrity. IBD has a history of consistently providing objective information in relation to projects that have been environmentally, politically and legally sensitive.
